How to Disable Thumbnail Preview in Windows Vista to Avoid Memory Dump


Thumbnail Previews could slow down the response time of Windows Vista Explorer. If the Media Player in your computer cannot read the format of video media files in the folder, then you might have a trouble to view the file names in that folder. Sometimes, when the Media Player encounters the error, the Memory Dump will activate and you have to wait for it for a while. To disable the Thumbnail Preview function, can solve this problem.

Open any folder in your computer, then click Tools in the Menu Bar.

Select Folder Options..., then the Folder Options Screen appears. Click on the View tab,

Check on Always show icons, never thumbnails in the checkbox, click Apply button, then OK button.

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Select Run... item
  3. Type in Regedit , then press Enter key
  4. Look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced \
  5. Change ClassicViewState to 1
